YA Attends Yoga Journal LIVE! in the Big Apple
Yoga Alliance® was pleased to take part in the Yoga Journal LIVE! conference held in New York City from April 23-26. Over 4,000 yoga enthusiasts filled the Hilton New York City Midtown Hotel for four days of special events, community classes, presentations and lectures, in addition to opportunities to meet other yoga professionals and organizations in the Yoga Market.
The event kicked off with the Friday Night Lecture Series, where Yoga Alliance spokesperson Andrew Tanner, E-RYT 500, gave brief and well-received remarks to a crowd of about 350 people. On Saturday, Tanner presented YA’s vision and mission for the future in a presentation titled “State the Future of Yoga,” and during that evening’s Presenter’s Dinner he shared the recent victories of YA’s advocacy activities in Arkansas, Colorado and California’s Encinitas Union School District.
At YA’s booth in the Yoga Market, staff and volunteers provided membership information and took questions from conference attendees. One confident attendee commented, “I’m a new teacher and ready to start.” Half of the booth space was transformed into a professional photo set; over 200 attendees were provided with a free headshot for use in their personal or promotional materials.
Overall, attendees were enthusiastic about YA’s recent development of Social Credentialing and growth into a more vocal advocate for yoga teachers and schools across the nation. One attendee praised, “Love the way you have evolved,” while another remarked, “I love it. Proud to be a member since 2010.”
We are grateful to all who joined us in New York. We would love to see you at our upcoming community events in Chicago and Vermont. Keep an eye on Our Calendar for future events near you and opportunities to connect with YA staff and representatives.
