What is the Current State of Our Union?
We have announced some big changes at Yoga Alliance® in recent years, which is why we are so excited to offer our new annual publication, the State of our Union, created to share our progress with you.
Updates on Our Core Programs
In addition to providing updates about all our 2014 activities, this year’s State of our Union also reflects on the successes of programs introduced since 2013, including our Online Workshops and Social Credentialing. Did you know more than 10,500 viewers have tuned in to watch live and recorded versions of our educational Online Workshops? Further, more than 27,000 trainees have provided feedback to over 2,800 unique Registered Yoga Schools (RYS®s) through Social Credentialing since it began in late 2013.
We also included updates about our Standards and our Directory, both of which underwent some important changes in the last year.
New Initiatives and Key Victories
We recently celebrated victories when Arkansas and Colorado legislatures passed laws to protect yoga teacher trainings from unnecessary regulation. The 2015 State of our Union highlights these efforts, our other ongoing advocacy campaigns and our plans to expand these efforts in the future.
Our staff began community outreach initiatives at the end of 2014, which included Community Meet-Ups and events, conferences and speaking engagements across the United States and in the United Kingdom. We continue to meet with our ever-growing membership and engage with the yoga community at events big and small.
Industry Insights
As a service to our members and the broader yoga community, we also included a special snapshot of the “yoga industry” that details its growth and other key insights for teachers, schools and studios to know.
We are continuing to develop programs that best serve the yoga community and our mission to promote and support the integrity and diversity of the teaching of yoga. Thank you for your ongoing support – all of our progress would not be possible without our members!
