Andrew Tanner Departs Board of Directors, Two New Members Confirmed
In October 2014, the Yoga Alliance® and Yoga Alliance Registry board of directors announced two new members joined the board. The board confirmed Karen Doyle Grossman for a four-year term that began October 15. Her term expires on the same date in 2018. The board also confirmed Swami Asokananda, E-RYT 500, for a four-year term that began October 27 and ends on the same day in 2018.
The two members filled vacancies on the board created by the departures of Lynn Bushnell, E-RYT 500, and Andrew Tanner, E-RYT 500. Andrew announced his retirement from the board in October. He served as board treasurer, chaired the Governance Committee and sat on the Education Committee. He also acted as a Yoga Alliance representative at various events during his tenure on the board.
"Volunteering on the Yoga Alliance board over the past two years has been one of the most rewarding and educational experiences of my career,” said Andrew. “I'm proud of the accomplishments the board and organization has made during this time and hope to serve YA again in the future. I plan to stay involved as an active member of Yoga Alliance."
Andrew had an influential voice in the overhaul of Yoga Alliance’s branding, championing the route of crowd-sourcing and member involvement over the hiring of an outside branding firm. He also presented at the 2013 Business of Yoga Conference
